WFH with Vicki Duong

Vicki is a Vancouver-based blogger who’s content ranges between fashion, makeup, beauty and fitness. We started following her last year and shortly after that she shifted to working from home (WFH) full time. Since she has already gone through the process of adjusting to working from home, we thought she would be the perfect person to refer to as we continue to adapt to this new normal.

Wearing the Short Sleeve Button Up in Black Tropical Print because it’s comfortable and cheerful!

This is how Vicki spends her Mondays:

10am-ish to 11am

During these unpredictable times I have been practicing grace where I can. One of my simple joys lately has been waking up without an alarm clock. After brushing my teeth and completing my skincare routine I take a few minutes to watch some “feel-good” content online. Lately my go-to has been watching Bon Appetit on YouTube! (Editors note: same here Vicki! I have the biggest crush on Brad and can’t stop watching It’s Alive.)

11am to 12pm

Prepare lunch/late breakfast while I have a cup of coffee. (I haven’t figured out how to make that Dalgona whipped coffee that’s so popular on IG yet, so it’s just a regular cup of joe for me.)

12pm to 4pm

Work mode, even from home I am fortunate enough to have a variety of work to do.

This time is spent shooting and editing photo content, writing and scheduling upcoming posts, Zoom meetings and answering emails. (I am also trying to figure out Tik Tok, wish me luck!)

4pm to 5pm

This is the time I have given myself to do non-work errands that need to be done. Washing dishes, doing laundry, etc. - usually also jamming out to the new Dua Lipa album.

5pm to 7pm

Happy hour followed by dinner! I jump on a video call with some of my friends to check in and share a beer with them (virtually of course) while we each make our respective dinners safely at home. Being at home more has granted me the patience to try new recipes - I’ve been loving recipes from the Minimalist Baker! (Editors note: thanks for the tip! I just checked out the website and can’t wait to try the Easy Gluten and Dairy-Free Lasagna.)

7pm to 8pm

After participating in the 7PM cheer for essential workers it’s a full body workout via Zoom with Tight Club Athletics! I love that they’ve adapted so well for their clients and can offer several workout classes daily for as low as $5 per class. Fret not if you don’t have weights as home, you can use wine bottles. ;)

8pm to 10pm

My wind-down time. I use this time to shower and really pamper myself with candles and bath oils. I also do my evening skincare routine and I have been doing face masks almost nightly. Right now my favourite is Midnight Paloma Detox Mask! (Editors note: I also love Midnight Paloma so much - shout out to the beautiful boss babe, Taylor, who’s behind the brand!)

10pm onward

TV time! I’m not one to watch a ton of TV but while practicing social distancing we all find our routines different than usual. With the rest of the world I binged Tiger King in two days and now I’m rewatching Big Little Lies!

Hopefully this post gave you some inspiration for things to do while in self-isolation!

Remember, it’s ok to feel stressed or overwhelmed during this time. Rather than beat yourself up for feeling this way, show yourself some compassion. Love you all!
