The Story of a Garment

IMG_5869.JPG

We all have our favourite piece of clothing. These items are similar to a best friend; they flatter you, make you feel good and have your back no matter what situation you find yourself in. These pieces of clothing have a story. When you see them hanging in your closet your flooded with memories, as if you walked into a nostalgia shop. You think about the good, the bad and the ugly that those very clothes have experienced with you. They take on a life of their own and it all started with you.

However, many of us forget that these memory packed garments had a life long before us. The dress you love so much was thought up and made by a complete stranger. Each piece of clothing is conceptualized, designed, made, and delivered; in a nutshell! This creates a somewhat intimate relationship many of us don’t consider when it comes to our clothing.

Today, we are bombarded by options. The fashion industry traditionally had two seasons, Spring/Summer and Fall/Winter. This has exploded into fifty-two - pause for reaction. Within all of this consumption we have forgotten to appreciate, acknowledge and seek the details of where and how our clothes are made. The story of an item doesn’t actually begin with you - that is chapter two.

We want you as consumers to be in the know, so we decided to share the story of each piece for our Runway Sample Sale. The clothing seen for sale were made just for the runway and haven’t been seen in store. They are truly one of a kind.

When purchasing these pieces we want you to gain more then a cute top, well we want that to, but instead a personalized item of clothing. We want to emphasize the craftsmanship and creativity that goes into a single piece and share that with you! So next time you look in your closet you see a story instead of simply another jacket.
