3 Western-Inspired Outfits for Stampede
It's the Greatest Outdoor Show on Earth.
As a Calgarian, I look forward to Stampede every year. I love being able to eat corn dogs, drink endless Bud Light Apples, and two-step the night away in Cowboys Tent. Even more, I love any excuse to wear my cowboy boots.
OUTFIT #1
For those who haven't shelled out the money on cowboy boots yet, I styled an outfit with a pair of black, pointy-toed boots with a glittery platform, heel from Zara which are the opposite of Western. I wanted to show how any outfit can be made Stampede-appropriate by adding the right accessories. In this case I added this Floral Embroidered Denim Jacket with a leather tie choker to a simple white shirt dress. I think this is a sophisticated way to dress for Stampede without feeling like you're wearing a costume.
OUTFIT #2
For the second outfit, I decided to wear my cowboy boots so to demonstrate how they can transform your everyday summer dress into the perfect Stampede outfit.
I chose my favourite dress of the moment from Topshop, a red, off-the-shoulder, floral print dress. I love pairing a bright, colourful minidress with cowboy boots - I think it gives a really fun, flirty-vibe. I pulled my hair up in a messy high pony tail, because I often find that I get to hot at the grounds or in the beer tents if I leave my hair up.
Although this is a simple outfit, it is still one of my favourites.
OUTFIT #3
As a Calgary, I am not afraid to don the Canadian Tuxedo (ie. denim on denim). Although it isn't normally office-appropriate during the rest of the year, Stampede is the perfect excuse to rock that jean jacket with some blue jeans.
In this final outfit, I paired my favourite pair of Cheap Monday jeans with a white, floral print tunic from Free People. On top of it all, I threw on my favourite, patched denim jacket. The key to wearing a Canadian Tuxedo is to pair different different shades of denim.
